We Need You! Do
you want to do something about your child's future?
Are you concerned about wildlife conservation?
We want to create an active and informed
group of hunters and anglers who are willing to get involved. Our future
generation is depending on us to protect the wildlife management. We
need to provide opportunities for youth who wish to participate in
outdoor activities.
In 1985, the number of hunting and fishing license holders reached it's
maximum. Since then there has been a slight decline in licenses
purchased. In 1985, hunters made up approximately ten percent and
anglers approximately 15 percent of the state's population. In the
2001-2002 license year, hunters made up less than four percent and
anglers less than eight percent of the state's population. The state's
population is growing at a rapid rate but the number of hunters and
anglers are not keeping pace. Our percentage in the population is
declining at an alarming rate. This means that our influence is
declining rapidly and most of the people moving into Georgia are moving
into urban areas and are NOT sportsmen. That is why it is so important
for hunters and anglers to get connected and organized so we can be
involved and not sit back and wait on someone else to influence our
children.
By the generosity of local businesses and volunteers, we have had the
resources to prepare and complete several successful events. But we need
more help to accomplish more for our children and the future of our
wildlife. We are seeking more volunteers with ideas to make this
possible.
